Ulster's man-of-the-match Roger Wilson insisted there was never any panic in the home side's ranks as they battled back to beat Leicester 22-16 in their Heineken Cup opener.

Ulster trailed 7-0 early on at Ravenhill and only took a grip on the Pool 5 contest in the second half as they gradually took control of the set pieces and the breakdown.

Wilson told Sky Sports: "There was no doubt about the fact that Leicester have one of the top scrums in Europe.

"We pride ourselves on set-pieces as well. Unfortunately it didn't go too well in the first half but we had a few words at half time and we managed to turn it around.

"There was no panic at half-time. Although we made a lot of errors in the first half and things didn't go to plan, there are so many occasions at Ravenhill in the second half when we have been patient and sometimes we have to wait until the last minute.

"But we broke them down eventually. All credit to Leicester, they are a great team and they got their bonus point in the end."

Owen Williams' penalty four minutes from time earned Leicester what may be a crucial point although skipper Toby Flood felt the visitors could have got more than that from the game.

He said: "It felt like we had a chance there, we started really well, we felt we were in it at half-time, but credit to Ulster.

"It was a really hard-fought game, nothing pretty in it but a real fight from both sides. We made a few errors in our own 22 which cost us a few points, with a bit more composure we could have come away with a bit more.

"One point means a lot if we come out next week with a good result we are in nice spot in our pool. We are in the mix which is what matters."
