Bath boosted their chances of reaching a second successive LV= Cup semi-final with a 32-5 bonus point win over Gloucester at Kingsholm.

Olly Woodburn, Nick Abendanon, Stephen Donald and substitutes Mathew Gilbert and Semesa Rokoduguni ran in tries for the visitors, while Huia Edmonds touched down for Gloucester.

It was Bath's first win over the home of their West Country rivals since 2006 and only their second victory in 11 attempts against the Cherry and Whites.

But there was little indication of the rout to come when Woodburn's early opener was cancelled out five minutes from the interval by the hosts' solitary try.

It came from a lineout on the right near the Bath line and, after a rolling maul, Edmonds fell over the line under a pile of bodies, although Chris Cook could not convert.

But whatever was said in the Bath changing room at the break made a difference as they came out with more purpose in the second half.

The visitors were rewarded for a great attack down the right when wing Horacio Agulla gave Abendanon his scoring pass which the former England full-back accepted for an unconverted touchdown in the corner.

And it looked even more like a rare Bath victory was in the offing on Gloucester soil when Sam Vesty landed a penalty. The result was confirmed when Gilbert stormed his way over from a few metres out after a great move in the home 22.

Bath secured a bonus point when Rokoduguni went through a gap and ran to the line, with Vesty adding the extras.

The visitors were in top gear by now and grabbed a fifth try as the home fans left Kingsholm early, World Cup winner Donald running in from 30 metres before Vesty converted to round out the scoring.
