Scotland beat Argentina 26-14 in the second Test in Buenos Aires to relieve the pressure on coach Frank Hadden.

Some had suggested that Hadden could be sacked if his team did not win after going down 21-15 in the first Test in Rosario.

But full-back Chris Paterson, making a record 88th appearance in the match, ensured Scotland secured a first away triumph over Argentina as he scored 13 points.

The man-of-the-match scored 13 points - four penalties and two conversions, while Ross Ford and Graeme Morrison ran in tries after 23 and 70 minutes respectively.

Late tries

The Pumas scored two tries through Juan Fernandez Lobbe (60) and Horacio Agulla (80), along with two Federico Todeschini conversions, but it was too little, too late.

But their late scoring prevented Scotland reaching the 15-point margin they needed to get an improved IRB ranking.

The match saw Northampton lock Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe playing his last Test for Argentina before retiring from international rugby at the age of 33.
