The Sharks boosted their play-off hopes with a seven-try mauling of the Western Force in Durban.

Winger Lwazi Mvovo scored a second-half double, after the hosts had led 20-6 at half-time, to break open the match and send them to a crucial bonus-point win.

At one point they rattled up 43 unanswered points as the Force's woeful campaign hit a new low, and left them bottom of the Australia conference.

The Sharks had struggled to shake off their lowly visitors in the opening half hour, leading only 10-6, after Steven Sykes' sole try.

From there they began to make their dominance count though with Lambie expertly sending Paul Jordaan across for his first Super Rugby try before the fly-half converted and kicked a penalty to make it 20-6 at the break.

The floodgates opened after the break with Louis Ludik soon touching down before Mvovo intercepted on his own 22-metre line and raced away to score his first.

Mvovo was over again, when he picked up Alfie Mafi's wayward pass, and matters got worse for the Force when Locky McCaffrey was shown a yellow card for playing the man without the ball on the hour.

Craig Burden and Jacques Botes ran over late tries to complete the rout, before the Perth side earned some consolation in the final minutes when Samu Wara crossed.
