Jamie Gibson: early try for Irish
Topsy Ojo: London Irish's new record try-scorer
Topsy Ojo became London Irish's record try-scorer as they ran in 11 tries in a thrilling 69-26 Amlin Challenge Cup win over Mont de Marsan.
The Exiles scored inside the opening minute at the Madejski Stadium and consistently breached the French side's line in a game that featured little in the way of defence.
Jamie Gibson stormed over from 50 metres out after only 32 seconds with Bryn Evans making it 12-0 with a second score in the third minute.
Two penalties closed the gap but kicks were all Mont de Marsan managed as the score reached 24-12 at the break, Ian Humphreys and Halani Aulika securing the home side's bonus point with tries.
Jonathan Joseph added a fifth score after the break before Mathieu Giudicelli pulled a try back for the visitors, but that only preceded a spell of three more tries for the dominant Exiles.
Sailosi Tagicakibau intercepted and ran in from 50 metres to score the first of them and Anthony Watson marked his first start with a try before Ojo's 62nd score for the club equalled their record.
Replacement scrum half Jack Moates finished off a well worked outside backs move to score his first try for the club and Ojo sprinted over for his record-breaking try before Watson wrapped up the scores with his second.
The Exiles top Pool 1 with 10 points from their two games with Mont de Marsan still seeking their first win despite running Gloucester close last week.
