Aviva Premiership: Nick Evans kicks 17 points as Harlequins edge out Worcester
Nick Evans' drop goal six minutes from time gave Aviva Premiership leaders Harlequins a 22-19 win over Worcester at the Twickenham Stoop.
Evans also kicked four penalties and converted Matt Hopper's try just before half-time for a personal 17-point haul as Quins came from behind to claim their seventh league victory of the season.
Worcester scored the opening try in the third minute through wing David Lemi and extended their lead to 14-6 just after half-an-hour thanks to three Andy Goode penalties - despite Lemi being sent to the sin-bin for killing the ball in front of his own try line.
Scotland prop Euan Murray - signed from Newcastle following a spell on loan with French club Agen - made his Worcester debut when he replaced injured former Quins front row man John Andress in the 35th minute.
Murray's first scrum was forced into retreat by the home pack before Evans capitalised expertly by choosing the correct split second to find Hopper on a straight run-in to the line.
Evans converted, followed shortly afterwards by the New Zealander's third penalty, to put Quins 16-14 up at the break, their cause having been aided when Semisi Taulava became the second Worcester player to be shown a yellow card for a defensive infringement.
A further Evans penalty in the 58th minute padded the home side's lead to five points before replacement Errie Claassens went over for Worcester's second try to level the match with 13 minutes to play.
But Evans had the final say, keeping his cool to land the match-winning drop goal in the 74th minute.
