Sam Oldham emerged from the English Championships in Wigan with four medals on Saturday to significantly boost his chances of making the England team for the Commonwealth Games.
The Nottingham gymnast's highlight came as he won gold on the parallel bars before taking in silver on both the high bar and the rings.
That was enough to see Oldham take the overall bronze behind GB team-mates and fellow Olympic bronze medallists Max Whitlock and Kristian Thomas.
The Championships also saw the return of Louis Smith with the Olympic pommel horse silver medallist having to settle for second place again on his favoured apparatus, behind Whitlock.
After Saturday’s results Oldham seems all but assured of a place in the England team for the Games in Glasgow this summer and has the chance to confirm his spot later in the month at the British Championships in Liverpool.
