Sam Oldham has been named in the England gymnastics squad for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The Sky Academy Sports Scholar has been a key member of the Great Britain team since helping them to a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London two years ago and as such his selection comes as little surprise.

Sky Academy Sports Scholar Sam Oldham has been selected as part of England's gymnastics team for the Commonwealth Games.

Oldham was part of the GB team to pick up the silver medal at the European Championships in Sofia and also secured the inidividual high bar silver for the second year running.

He will be joined on the England team by British all around champion Max Whitlock, GB team-mate Kristian Thomas, Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith and five-time European junior champion Nile Wilson.

Team England Chef de Mission, Jan Paterson was thrilled with the squad, saying: "Here we have another Team England squad bursting with talent and including Olympic and European medallists. These gymnasts are increasingly making an impact on the international stage and I wish them the best of luck for that to continue in Glasgow."
