Happy New Year! 2014 has begun and I am preparing for a big year.
I am back into the routine of full time training again following a short break over the Christmas period. I'm starting to feel in great shape already, feeling motivated for the challenges which lie ahead.
Next week I shall be attending a five day training camp which will take place in Sheffield; working alongside teams from Ireland and France.
In early February I will be heading to Kazakhstan once again, this time for a two week training camp, working with three of the best performing teams in amateur boxing: Kazakhstan, Russia and China.
This training camp will be great preparation for upcoming tournaments which are set to start from late February/early March. The training in Kazakhstan will consist of lots of sparring and gym bouts.
These are similar to a contest, with a referee and over three, three minute rounds, only with head guards and no decision at the end.
The major tournament I am aiming for this year will be the Commonwealth Games which take place in Glasgow. This starts in July and I will have to earn my place on the team by competing in tournaments prior to the Games and by performing well in training.
In April I shall be competing in the Senior ABA Championships, for which I am the defending ABA champion from the past two years. Winning the ABAs again will increase my chances of selection for the Commonwealth Games for the England team.
I won gold at the Youth Commonwealth Games in 2011 and it would be an honour and a fantastic achievement to represent England as a senior.
I am continuing to thoroughly enjoy my time as a Sky Academy Sports Scholar and I'm excited to find out who is going to be announced as my mentor.
