The wait is finally over!
I'm thrilled to be able to say I'm now back on my BMX bike again and on the track doing what I love! It's been a long time coming - eight months and a week to be precise.
The time out sure did drag, finding out bad news month after month that my leg would take longer to heal. Especially when the doc said I needed to undergo a second operation. However, I've started to pull out many positives whilst being on the sidelines.
My upper body strength has improved massively and mentally I have matured, making me have a different approach to the way I train. My hunger and determination to get back to where I left off and surpass that have also shone through the roof and I can't wait to get the ball rolling.
Thankfully my physio said that getting back on my BMX bike again would speed up my strengthening process in my leg. So after eight months I was finally back and that felt super good.
I'm already seeing massive improvements with regards to my speed, confidence and skill within the few weeks I've been riding so things are looking really promising, much to my delight.
My plan at the moment is to get my left leg to the same strength as my right leg which should take two to three more months with three gym sessions a week which consist of intensive rehab.
Whilst I work on getting my strength back, I'll be working on just getting back into the swing of things as my training load increases. I won't be rushing into any competitions until I feel at a good enough standard to do well. I'm being extremely careful that I do not rush things as I don't want any setbacks.
I will be in front of the cameras soon, which I'm looking forward to, so keep an eye out for that!
