Jack Bateson: Saw what life behind the camera is like with Sky Sports

A few weeks ago I was invited to Sky Sports Boxing's North Power event at the First Direct Arena in Leeds to see what goes in to broadcasting a live fight on Sky.

David Weinsten, Sky's production manager, was able to show me the Sky trucks back stage, where most of the work that goes in to broadcasting a fight takes place.

It was amazing to see how many individual roles and jobs there are on the Sky team, they have to work together to make sure everything is perfect to be shown live to the viewers on Sky Sports.

I was also able to watch the main event from ringside and see the Sky team, along with my mentor Johnny Nelson, presenting.

Training is going really well, I have really grown in to the flyweight category and started to feel a lot more confident in myself at my new weight class. I've got a busy schedule for the next two months and some important tournaments to look forward to.

I have been selected for the China Open tournament in Guiyang City, China from 6 to 20 July. This is a great tournament for me to compete with some of the best teams in the world and pick up some valuable experience.

Before the tournament begins we will be training in Guiyang City with the other competing teams to adjust to the environment and time difference.

Then, in August, I am competing in the EU Championships in Bulgaria, the only major tournament of the year for most European countries. Picking up a medal here would be a great result and I'm going for gold.
