Tongue tied

A bad start to the weekend

Last updated: 09th October 2008

Tongue tied
The worse thing is I was blagging it right from the beginning. I tried to cover it up by rapping really loudly, but it was all nonsense. I was just caught in a little trap and I couldn't get out of it.

Quotes of the week

Those of you who saw the show on Saturday will know I didn't have the best of starts to my weekend!

I pride myself on my professionalism (well sort of anyway) so I was gutted when I messed up my one question, and to make things worse I've gotta take One for the Team this week.

I'm not even sure what happened but as I stepped up in front of Nadine my mind just went completely blank - although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have forgotten my lines if I was asking Ralf Little a question!

The worse thing is I was blagging it right from the beginning. I tried to cover it up by rapping really loudly, but it was all nonsense. I was just caught in a little trap and I couldn't get out of it.

Still the rest of Saturday was pretty good. First Steve kept his 100 per cent record as manager in tact as Weirside Rangers manager. I played centre back alongside Tomb, who was a rock and naturally we kept a clean sheet.

And then it was off to a club in St Albans for Curly's 21st! I can't actually remember what the place was called but it was pretty decent and the women weren't bad either, although it was more about the Sambuca!

I woke up on Sunday really looking forward about going to see Chelsea take on Aston Villa, but having crashed at someone's house in Hendon I was distraught when I went to the station and realised that the trains had decided to take a day off!

I did everything I could to get to the game but had to admit defeat in the end which I was absolutely gutted about. To make things worse I had to watch Paul Merson on Soccer Special describing Chelsea's performance as the best thing since sliced bread!

But I was still delighted with the three points, especially considering the amount of injuries at the moment... Scolari is turning into a real hero.

This week is a little less hectic than usual because I haven't got any junkets or interviews to do, but it is the 500th show which is obviously pretty exciting.

Obviously I haven't been there for all 500, but I've been around for quite a few of them and I don't think theres ever been a Saturday morning which I haven't looked forward to... although I'm glad I don't have to stand in the car park wearing just a nappy anymore!

Later,

Tubes

P.S. I'd like to apologise to my dear friend Dean Carrol for missing his birthday last weekend. Happy belated birthday mate.

Tubes answers your questions...

Tubes, you're a top bloke and funny too, but what I want to know is who is the biggest and best celeb you have ever asked a question to and what should I have for my dinner tomorrow?
Pedro Pedro

TUBES REPLIES: The biggest celeb I've interviewed has to be Sly Stallone. He was quite a good laugh too but I was worried he wouldn't get my question and just knock me out! The best is harder because there have been some really good ones, but Ray Winstone and Sir Ben Kingsley would be up there.

In terms of your dinner Pedro I think you should go for a chicken and prawn paella. I had it the other day and it was lovely!

Tubes you messing with the bad man I make you look scrubby like brillow or is it because Khan is cooler then the other side of the pillow! You're a great bloke and a legend but what I want to know is how long does it take you to think of a question?
Amir Khan

TUBES REPLIES: I tend to spend longer on junket questions then the studio ones. The junket ones I normally think of on the taxi ride over, but my one question in the studio is usually thought up in one of the breaks... I find I work better under pressure!

A lot of rappers start "falling off" after a period of time, do you ever feel now sitting down trying to think of that question that your lyrics are not as good as before, how do you keep coming up with new stuff?
50 Cent Jackson

TUBES REPLIES:I've gotta say it's not as easy as it looks. Coming up with sick new lyrics every week is tough but you're either born with it or not.

Don't get me wrong you get some journeyman rappers who have grafted and made a living out of it, but there's a few of us at the top who it just comes naturally to... sort of like football to Maradona!

Luckily I'm a bit of a multi-tasker so no matter what I'm doing I've always got a beat in my head and I'm thinking of new lyrics all the time. I never leave the house with out my ipod and my mini rap pad either which has got all my lyrics in it.

Tubes my one question and one question only is: What's the best goal you've ever scored? Pete Bird

TUBES REPLIES: The best one I probably scored was 30-yard volley when I was playing for Surrey school boys. It flew into the top corner so I was well chuffed. I scored another good one for a pub team from the half-way line; it was a bit lucky because I just punted it, but it went in which was good.
