Henry handball wasn't instinct, says Tubes

No luck for the Irish
Some people have been saying that the handball was an instinctive reaction, and there might be a case for the first touch, but there's clearly a second touch where he uses his hand to guide the ball into the perfect position for him to cross from.

Quotes of the week

The beauty of football is that you can play it in almost any weather.

That might sound like an obvious thing to say about an outdoor sport, but I've got one word for you; cricket!

Anyway, we put that theory to the test on Saturday because the conditions were ridiculous. Gail force winds don't exactly help when you're trying to play the free flowing football that Weirside Rangers like to play... well the free bits true.

Either way we adapted to the conditions better than the other team because we thumped them 4-0.

I didn't get on the scoresheet but I did win a penalty, which Steve tucked away confidently.

I got taken out by one of their defenders, after admittedly showboating a bit, and then their 'keeper had the nerve to accuse me of cheating when I'd clearly taken a whack across the shins.

Blatant

I'd go as far as to say that it was nearly as blatant as Thierry Henry's handball against the Republic Of Ireland, and that was as clear cut as they come.

I felt really sorry for the Irish because there isn't anything worse in sport than losing when you feel you've been cheated. I really wanted them to win and they were definitely the best team on the night.

Some people have been saying that the handball was an instinctive reaction, and there might be a case for the first touch, but there's clearly a second touch where he uses his hand to guide the ball into the perfect position for him to cross from.

Fair play to him he's come out and admitted it, but then the evidence was pretty damning and I don't think it will be any consolation for an entire nation who were hoping to go to the World Cup next summer.

The handball aside I thought it was a brilliant game. It was probably more important than most group games at the World Cup and it showed. There was so much excitement and I can't wait for next summer to come around.

Excited

I'm also pretty excited about one of my junkets next week. I haven't had one in a few weeks now, but on Monday I'll be heading off to interview skateboard legend Tony Hawk.

I'm not sure what I'm going to ask him yet but I'm looking forward it. It will make a change from the usual junkets with actors... not that I'm complaining about them.

I'd snap your hand off for a chance to get in a room with Carmen Electra again! Let's hope she has another film out soon!

Later,

Tubes.

Tubes answers your questions

Your name is Tubes, you're as colourful as the Hoobs... ooohhhh learning is good!!! My one question is; do you have any pets?James Sparrow (Leeds United fan).

Tubes replies: I wish I knew what the Hoobs were James, I'll Google them later. To answer your question I don't have any pets. I used to have a hamster called Hammy. He was great. He became a big part of the family until he died of natural causes. Unfortunately Hammy was a bit of a party animal and used to go on mad Malteser binges and in the end it cost him... and us.

Tubes!!!! I've got one question and one question only for you; who do you think will win X Factor?Cameron Gould(Chelsea fan).

Tubes replies: Hi Cameron, that's a tough one to answer because I don't know any of their names other than Jedward who always seem to be in the papers. I heard Calvin Harris was brilliant the other night though, so I'll go for him.

Have you got one question and one question only for Tubes!? Ask the lyrical genius anything you want in the comments section below and he'll answer the best ones next week!
