While the rest of us agreed it would be a shame if Messi wasn't there, there was an overriding feeling that we really didn't care if it meant England had a better chance of winning the tournament!

Quotes of the week
If you were ever made to do P.E in just your underwear then you'll know exactly how James and Steve felt on Saturday!
Luckily for them they didn't have to incur the wrath of an irate P.E teacher as well, instead it was the opposition's fury at having to kick-off late.
We should probably fill in the blanks at this point. Weirside Rangers were playing away against a team in West Wycombe this week and our goalkeeper, who had our kit, was late...very late!
Most of the boys had shorts and t-shirts they could wear but Steve and James had absolutely nothing.
After managing to scramble together a spare pair of Astros each and some socks complete with fashionable holes, they took to the field in their boxers and the same t-shirts they wore on the show!
Needless to say but things didn't start too well. With Dave stepping in between the sticks, we found ourselves 2-0 down within a matter of minutes. Despite the early setback though, the boys were happy to embrace their new look.
"It's the best thing I've ever done in football," Steve told us afterwards.
Thankfully our 'keeper did eventually turn up about 20 minutes into the game and we ended up winning 3-2... if we were a superstitious bunch we'd be asking them to start every game in their boxers!
Kingpin
It turns out that it was a weekend of sporting achievements because along with that result, Baby Elvis proved he is the office Kingpin after showing everyone how it is done down at his local bowling alley.
His ability to shake his hips like Elvis obviously came in handy as he got a high score of 178, and an average of 154.
We'd like to state for the record that those numbers mean very little to us. We're not sure if there impressive or not, we just assumed they were by the way he was talking...
In other news, the office is split right down the middle as to whether Argentina not qualifying for the World Cup would be a good or bad thing... we say down the middle but it's more like 90-10 in favour of them not qualifying.
Messi
Chris was pretty much alone in his view that he wanted to see the best players in the world in South Africa next summer, including Lionel Messi.
While the rest of us agreed it would be a shame if Messi wasn't there, there was an overriding feeling that we really didn't care if it meant England had a better chance of winning the tournament!
The conversation then turned to Portugal who find themselves in a similar position to Argentina. No arguments on this one though... we don't have to tell you which way we went!
See you on Saturday!
