Tubes' Diary
We'll Bury 'em!
Tubes guarantees goals - and the world's greatest celebration
Last updated: 19th April 2008
This Sunday afternoon I will be lacing on the boots and turning out for the Soccer AM XI versus Forever Bury at Gigg Lane.
Live in HD! Not really but it should be... Get yourselves down there to watch a feast of football - and all in the name of charity.
Here's a little inside info on the rest of the team...
Starting XI
Formation: 3-5-2
Goalkeeper, Baby Elvis He can't dive to his left. He just can't. When he goes to his right he's alright, but we're in trouble if they shoot to his left. He's a calm and collected character but I imagine he could get quite angry if the defence make a mistake.
Right-Back, Chris Solid. Mr. Reliable.
Centre-Back, Disco Dave Like Patrick Vieira. Good touch, steady engine and he's about 8ft tall so won't lose many in the air.
Left-Back, Rocket Good left peg. He can strike a ball. I do worry about his fitness.
Right Midfield, Andy Goldstein I don't know much about Goldstein as I've never seen him play. He talks a good game though.
Centre Midfield, David Thompson He's pretty good.
Centre Midfield, Darren Campbell He's starting in midfield which surprises me as I thought he would be up front where he played in Sky One's The Match. His speed helps him quite a lot. I've been informed by the gaffer that he may play up front for a bit if we're in trouble.
Centre Midfield, Me 'Nuff said.
Left-Midfield, Lee Sharpe Class player, class celebrations. The only reason I'm playing is to see him celebrate when he scores.
Centre Forward, Steve Tricky. A scorer of great goals and he likes to showboat as well. If he was on Goal of the Month he would win it every single month! I've never seen him score a great goal but apparently he does it all the time.
Centre Forward, Peter Beagrie He's good. Quality back-flip as well. Imagine Lee Sharpe collaborating with Peter Beagrie? That would be the greatest goal celebration in the world.
The Bench
James Good player. He's played quite a good standard. He's still feeling a bit stiff from running the London marathon though...
Jimi An unknown quantity. I think he's just coming along for the lash-up to be honest.
Steve Yemoh He's a tidy player.
Manager, Trev A tactical genius, he knows football inside-out and will be barking orders at us whilst drinking pints of strong lager.
Tubes' score prediction
Forever Bury are quite good but with our ex-pros I think we will win 5-2.
Cheers,
Tubes
