A Bury good day

A Bury good day
Stamford Bridge is not too far from the Sky Sports studio and I'm sure nobody will notice if I sneak out 10 minutes before the end of the show anyway!

Quotes of the week

It was good to be back in action for the Soccer AM team against Forever Bury last weekend.

I haven't played football for seven months and I half expected to be stretchered off after 10 minutes with my ankle injury, but it held up well and I was pleased with how the game went.

I was spraying the ball around nicely from central midfield and I showed Peter Beagrie and David Thompson a few tricks. In the second half I formed a nice little midfield partnership with James, who from now on will be referred to as 'Curly' for reasons I won't go into here.

Overall, it was a really good day. The Gigg Lane pitch was really nice and the people of Bury were very friendly. I was very impressed that 900 people paid to get into the game to watch us.

I lost count of the score, but apparently we won 10-3. I know it was for charity, but it's always good to win isn't it?

We had a very funny night out in Bury afterwards and there's plenty of good stories that I'm not allowed to write about on the website.

What I will say is that Bury has some very interesting nightclubs. The place we went to was absolutely packed with people, even though it was a Sunday night.

The drinks offers were unreal as well. I'd ask for one whisky and they'd give me two more for free, which was great but it meant things got a bit messy.

Offers like that are unheard of in London, but then again busy nightclubs on a Sunday night are pretty much unheard of as well.

Everyone knows I like a few drinks, but when there's a really big game on I prefer to watch it at home, so I spent Tuesday night in my house watching Liverpool v Chelsea.

I thought we did alright, but we were a bit lucky to come away with a draw and I must applaud John Arne Riise for a superb finish in injury time.

For the first 25 minutes I thought we were the much better team, but Liverpool came into the game and missed a few chances and I would have been happy with a 1-0 defeat.

Riise has definitely swung it in our favour, but I'm not booking my flights to Moscow yet. I'm going to the return leg next week and I don't want to jinx it by making any predictions.

One thing I'm looking forward to this week is meeting the Bionic Woman, Michelle Ryan, on Friday.

A lot of you will probably remember her as Zoe from EastEnders. I haven't seen her new show yet so I can't say for certain if it's any good, but what I can tell you for certain is that she's fit.

I'm also going to the Manchester United game straight after Soccer AM on Saturday, but I'll be cutting it fine because it's a 12.45 kick-off.

I was thinking of getting a bike to take me to Stamford Bridge, but it's way too expensive so I'm going to get a cab instead.

It's not too far from the Sky Sports studio and I'm sure nobody will notice if I sneak out 10 minutes before the end of the show anyway!
