When in Rome

Backing the Blues

When in Rome
I was hanging around at the back of one of the groups trying not to get noticed but some Aussie girl saw me and flipped out! It was all a bit embarrassing really, but sort of funny at the same time.

Quotes of the week

Getting done by Man Utd in the Champions League final wasn't the best way to start my holidays but I'm glad to say that was the only low point of my break.

One of the highs was going to Italy to see my cousin who lives in Rome now. I actually did some sight seeing for once as well and checked out the Colosseum and a few other ruins.

The Colosseum was great apart from the fact there were tonnes of cats everywhere for some reason which I couldn't understand. One of the tour guides probably could have given me an answer, but I stupidly decided not to get one.

So after walking around a bit and not really knowing what anything was I decided to try and get someone else's tour guide!

I was hanging around at the back of one of the groups trying not to get noticed but some Aussie girl saw me and flipped out! It was all a bit embarrassing really, but sort of funny at the same time.

I thought I should try and make an effort while I was out there as well and speak a bit of Italian, but whenever I started the locals just stared at me and then responded in English, which was a bit demoralising.

Still getting massaged on some beautiful beaches and taking in the spectacular view made up for it!

The rest of my time off consisted of a lot golf with my brother, who's pretty handy and a lot of relaxing, but I can't wait for the Premier League to kick off next week.

I'm delighted Chelsea appointed Luiz Felipe Scolari because I think he's a brilliant manager. He has a real aura and presence about him which just makes me think he is the right man for the job.

The players look a lot happier as well and probably most importantly the football they have been playing in pre-season has been brilliant.

Last year ended in massive disappointment but I'm convinced Chelsea will win the league this season. It will obviously be tough and I can see Man Utd challenging us all the way but I'm just very confident, especially now that Scolari is in charge.

The new footy season also means the new season of Soccer AM and I'm getting back into the swing of things after six weeks off. My first junket of the season should be a nice easy one with Vinnie Jones on Tuesday!

I'm not sure how he will take me spitting lyrics at him, but hopefully I'll get out of the room in one piece!

If you don't hear from me next week though, you'll know why!
