Cole in a hole

Forget fox in the box, Joe Cole has his new position...

Cole in a hole
One thing that definitely went down well last weekend was Joe Cole's performance against Blackburn... He looked like a completely new player in his role behind the front two and Carlo Ancelotti wasn't far off when he called him a genius.

Quotes of the week

I wouldn't say me and 50 Cent are best friends after I interviewed him on Friday, but I reckon I've made his top 100!

For once I was first in the queue to interview him, but I still ended up waiting around because he was an hour late!

I think he had a bit of a heavy night and was probably nursing a bit of a hangover but he was still on top form.

He remembered me from our interview last season too. I assumed it was down to all the fist bumping we did back then, but he told me he has to remember everyone he meets just in case he upsets them!

There was no chance of him upsetting me though. If anything I thought I might offend him with all my chest hair, but he took it all in good humour.

My raps are normally off the cuff, but I decided I should probably put a bit more thought into this one.

I was up all night trying to come up with rhymes and then it hit me, 50 Cent, Clark Kent. Ripping my shirt open was just to give that added bit of spice! I think it went down well after his initial shock.

One thing that definitely went down well last weekend was Joe Cole's performance against Blackburn.

Genius

He got a lot of plaudits for the way he played and he deserved every single one of them. He looked like a completely new player in his role behind the front two and Carlo Ancelotti wasn't far off when he called him a genius.

Blackburn obviously had a bit of a depleted team because of the spread of swine flu within their squad, but it was still a good effort to put five goals passed them.

Like the Blackburn squad there's been a spread of cold and flu symptoms in our office this week too, and unfortunately my immune system hasn't stood up to the test.

Uni

Still that didn't stop me going to Guildford University on a Tuesday night! I never went to Uni and I'm glad I didn't because I don't think I would have survived three years drinking in a student union everyday!

Tuesday was all about the music though because I was there to see Kid British play and they were amazing. I can't believe they're not big time yet.

They were great when they performed on the show at the end of last season and I really can't big them up enough.

In fact for the first time ever I'm going to give you some homework! If you haven't heard a lot of their stuff, go and check out their Myspace site.

Tubes answers your questions

If you had a choice between a girl or a beer and curry which would you choose?Josh Meija (Tottenham fan).

Tubes replies: Well Josh there's a lot of factors to consider! It's not really that cut-and-dry is it? It all depends on the girl and of course how much beer was up for grabs!

Hi Tubes, I thought your interview with 50 Cent was one of the funniest ever, where does it rank in your top ten and did you think his advice was any good?Richard Emery(Charlton Athletic fan).

Tubes replies: Glad you enjoyed it Richard. I'd say it was up there, but I won't be taking any of his advice because I quite like my hairy chest. He was taking the Mickey a bit as well, but that's alright because he's a lot bigger than me.

Wat up Tubes! Do you think England should play Joe Cole in the hole like Chelsea are these days?Ian Nichols (Liverpool fan).

Tubes replies: Definitely Ian. I'd play the exact same formation as Chelsea with Gareth Barry in the holding role, Gerrard and Lampard in front of him and Cole at the top of the diamond. Ashley Cole and Glenn Johnson would provide the width down the wings - they've both got good engines on them. I'll just drop Fabio a text now before I forget!
