Fagan: not getting carried away!

If you get caught up thinking about the last game that you played you get beat easily in this league.

It might have been the shock result of the season thus far, but Craig Fagan says Hull won't be getting carried away after they beat Arsenal.

The Premier League new boys were given little hope when they travelled to the Emirates to face Arsene Wenger's side, but came away with all three points thanks to goals from Geovanni and Daniel Cousin in 2-1 win.

The famous victory has rightly earned the Tigers plaudits from all sections of the media but boss Phil Brown revealed that the result was now 'fish and chip paper' a sentiment echoed by Fagan:

"He's right in what he's saying to be honest", he said. "If you get caught up thinking about the last game that you played you get beat easily in this league."

"It was a great result for the fans, the people who have been supporting the club since it was in the lower leagues, but it was devastating to not be playing," he added.

Injury

The former Derby winger missed the game through injury after breaking his leg in a challenge with Newcastle's Danny Guthrie.

Fagan's left leg was fractured during Hull's 2-1 win at St James Park last month and he admitted that the road to recovery was likely to be a long one.

"It's pretty sore and it's going to be a long way to get back fit but I'm just dying to get back out there," he said.

"I've got another four weeks with the boot on and then it will be another two or three weeks after that.

"I was devastated at the time because I thought I was doing well, but it happens in football and I've just got to get fit and get back in the team.

Red

The challenge saw Guthrie receive a straight red card and much condemnation, but Fagan revealed the Newcastle midfielder has since called him to apologise.

"He texted me to start off with and then obviously we spoke on the phone," he said. "He's devastated about it himself, but it shouldn't really have happened."
