Ledley: bionic man!

The doc had a look at and it was bit twisted up. But he managed to straighten them out because they were dislocated as well.

Quotes of the week

Joe Ledley told Soccer AM that he is likely to have pins in his fingers for the rest of his life.

The Cardiff midfielder was forced to have surgery after fracturing his digits during last Saturday's win over Crystal Palace at Ninian Park.

Ledley, who also dislocated them in the same incident, revealed that although the surgery went well he was expecting to have bionic fingers for the rest of his life!

"On Tuesday I had two screws put in it," he told Soccer AM. " I fractured it during the game against Crystal Palace.

"I think the (pins) will stay in forever. The surgeon didn't say anything about taking them out so I think they will stay now."

Pain

Despite being in excruciating pain, Ledley returned to the field after receiving treatment off the pitch.

Ten seconds later he was reeling away in delight after scoring the winner and he told Helen and Max that he got through the rest of the game on pure adrenaline.

"The doc had a look at and it was bit twisted up. But he managed to straighten them out because they were dislocated as well."

"But it was fine after I scored, all the way up to the end of the game!"

Inspirational

The Wales international was inspirational in the Bluebirds' FA Cup run last season, scoring the only goal of the game in their semi-final win against Barnsley.

"It was brilliant," he said. "It was against Barnsley and it was even better after the game because we all went out and had a good laugh!

"They had had some good results and we had a good result against Middlesbrough as well, so it could have gone either way really. But it was just great to get out there and get the goal."

Heartbreak followed in the final against Portsmouth of course. However, Ledley's performance once again caught the eye and he said he was still grateful for the experience.

"All the boys were devastated, but it was a great day for us and not may footballers get to play in the FA Cup final so it was a great honour to be there."
