Bid for Premier League captain's armbands
Last updated: 21st November 2009
Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Cesc Fabregas are among Premier League captains whose signed armbands will be up for sale in an online auction for charity.
The sporting memorabilia auction, which went live on Thursday, aims to raise money for both The Willow Foundation and The Steve Bernard Foundation.
The Willow Foundation was set up by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife Megs and aims to provide special days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. To date the charity has organised and funded special days for more than 5,500 seriously ill young adults.
The Steve Bernard Foundation was set-up in memory of Steve who died in a car accident in 2005 aged just 18. The foundation aims to mirror his enthusiasm for sport and has supported more than 40 projects across 16 different sports.
Among the 21 stars to have joined Gerrard, Terry and Fabregas are Ledley King, Gary Neville, Martin Laursen, Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen.
