Lakeside and Ipswich youngster Adam Ellis narrowly missed out on a place in the World Under-21 Final after competing in Saturday's qualifier in Germany.
Ellis, 18, who recently claimed the runners-up spot in the British Under-21 Final, finished eighth in the Straslund meeting on eight points, including a race win in his final outing.
"It was a very creditable performance from Adam in a very tough semi-final. He was left to rue one last place, as he only missed out on qualification by two points," said GB Youth co-boss Neil Vatcher.
UK regulars Piotr Pawlicki (Wolverhampton), Mikkel Michelsen (Eastbourne), Nicklas Porsing (King's Lynn) and David Bellego (Berwick) along with former Peterborough and Swindon rider Kacper Gomolski secured the five qualification places.
British hopes now rest with Josh Bates and Stefan Nielsen who compete at Leicester on Saturday May 10.
