Bridger, riding as a guest, pulled off a magnificent third-to-first ride in Heat 14 to put the hosts into the lead going into the final race.
Bjarne Pedersen and Simon Gustafsson then notched a 4-2 to complete a thrilling 47-43 win in a meeting which had started with Lukas Dryml suffering a broken collarbone.
Despite the loss Wolves picked up one league point which moves them clear at the top of the Elite League table.
Eagles boss Trevor Geer said: "I don't quite know how we managed to pull that one off. We were already without Cameron (Woodward) and Denis (Gizatullin), but to lose Lukas before a race had been completed - I know Wolverhampton had their own problems in that department, but the signs did look bleak.
"A special mention has to go to Lewis. He did a terrific job for us throughout the evening but had it not been for that ride in the second to last race, Wolves could well have been celebrating the win."
Team boss Peter Adams was pleased his side did not leave empty-handed.
He said: "Obviously we would have taken a point before the meeting.
"After leading for so long it is a shame we couldn't come out on top, but given we were missing both Ty Proctor and Tai Woffinden it is a good result.
"Lewis Bridger was in inspired form at reserve for them, and in the end that was the difference between the two sides."
