Southampton manager Alan Pardew is still looking to strengthen despite the 4-0 hammering of Bristol Rovers.

Jose Fonte, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Lee Barnard struck without response for Saints to hand the south-coast club an emphatic win but Pardew is hopeful of making further additions before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.

He said: "I'd like to bring in another player and if we can strike the right deal it could well happen.

"There is still the loan system if we can't organise something before the deadline, but if the right player becomes available I will be asking the club to sanction a signing.

"I can't emphasise enough how important this win was for us. We started really well and controlled the game from start to finish.

"I had been criticising the players for not threatening enough at set plays and they looked dangerous from virtually every one."
