Benitez: Full of praise for Torres
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez hailed Fernando Torres following his hat-trick against West Ham.
Torres inspired Liverpool to a vital 4-0 win at Anfield to help them move above Everton in the race to finish fourth.
"He is a key player but the same as Gerrard, Carra, Reina he does his job scoring goals," Benitez told Sky Sports.
"He is a good player has confidence and I think he is on fire.
Benitez was pleased with his side's performance as they took advantage of their game in hand over Everton.
"I think the team was really good, a great performance and everything was good," added Benitez. "The stadium full of people on a Wednesday and for supporters it is really good to see Torres scoring goals and Gerrard and the team playing well.
"When you know you have one game in hand everybody can talk about the three points but you need to win and now at least we have three more points and we are very pleased."

It wasn't a great performance by any means. Torres scored some excellent goals and WILL be world class - but he is far from the finished product as is. Just take a look at his distribution and the choices he makes - definately not world class - but, he will get there. Torres needs a partner and Dirk (bless him for his effort) is just not it - talk about awfull first touch (yes, I know he set up two goals last night but let's look at the big piciture and the whole season). Skirtel looks an excellent buy - well done Rafa - I hope our beloved club regains the stability it demands and our manager gets at least next season to to win the prem. Septic Tanks out.

Torres was brilliant,if he had a strike partner alongside him then Liverpool would be right up there challenging him.I also think skirtel looks a very good player, maybe they can play 3 at the back next year.My team for next year below. I dont know about any other liverpool fans but i'm getting sick to death of the kop not making any noise through the match. I was in the main stand last night sat pretty much opposite the west ham fan's, and we were the only one's making any noise! All credit to their fans they were brilliant, they made my night...but the last thing i wanna be hearing from away fan's is ''where's your famous atmosphere'' and ''4-0 up and you still dont sing''!!

Last nights team display was a clear example to Rafa that his rotation ideas should be thrown out the window. Very good all round team effort and well worth the four goals and three points. Newcastle I am sure, are looking forward to their trip to Anfield. Its a pity that Liverpool are fighting for the fourth place and not mixing it with he three teams above them. They have only themselves to blame.

Fabulous Fernando! It's amazing to think that both the mancs and arsenal apparently looked at Torres for 3 years and thought he wouldn't cut it in the Premiership, at least their scouts don't always get it right! He has everything you want from a classic number 9, pace good in the air and the sort of courage that some people think that foreign strikers lack. The amazing thing is how quickly he has settled in to the English style of play, I remember Drogba's first season for chelsea where he struggled before turning into the great player he now is. Torres is by far and away Rafa's best signing and added to the excellent news that Masch is staying there seems to be some positives for our push on the league next season. We really need the political unrest at the club sorting out as soon as possible so we can attract a couple more key players in the summer with a left back and a winger or 2 the priorities

I'm a West Ham supporter and I could not believe how good Fernando Torres was last night. He was cool in front of goal and for big man he has got terrific pace, I think he has got to be up there among the best strikers in the world. West Ham were not brilliant but what are you meant to do when coming up against a striker or Fernando Torres ability.

Torres has proved what a world class player he already is! to come to the premiership and make such an impact in his first season is remarkable. Most players take a season or too and some never quite make it i.e. Morientes. 18 league goals already! absaloute class
