Andre Ayew has committed himself to Marseille until 2011 after agreeing a one-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 club.

Ayew has been rewarded with an extended deal at the Stade Velodrome after impressing on loan at Lorient, scoring in their 1-1 draw at Sochaux at the weekend.

The 18-year-old forward is Ghana's Under-20 captain and the son of Marseille legend Abedi Ayew Pele.

He was handed his first-team debut for Marseille last season before going on to make nine league appearances and three in the UEFA Champions League.

"I am delighted to sign a contract extension," he told skysports.com. "It proves how Marseille value me as a player.

"It is good because I am on loan right now and it shows that they count on me.

"I was very young when I played in the Champions League but being at Lorient has improved my experience and I should be ready to express myself more next season."
