Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson is eyeing a return to the Scotland national team in November.

Ferguson, who has yet to feature for his country during manager George Burley's reign, is currently sidelined after he was ruled out for up to four months following ankle surgery in the summer.

The 30-year-old admits he is unlikely to make his comeback for the first home 2010 World Cup qualifier against Norway on 11th October, but has targeted a return in a friendly pencilled in for the following month.

"I think October will come a bit too soon but, with the friendly being in November, I'm sure I'll be fit to play in that game," Ferguson said.

"I've got a lot of hard work in the next six to eight weeks, I need to get my strength back in my calf and my ankle.

"But hopefully I'll get a few reserve games in October and hopefully I'll be fit to lead Scotland out again in November."
