Alan Hutton has no problems with Kirk Broadfoot filling his boots at right-back in Scotland's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Norway.

Spurs ace Hutton would normally be one of George Burley's first selections in his starting XI, but a stress fracture of his right foot currently has him restricted to the sidelines.

The former Rangers defender's place is set to go to another Gers defender with Broadfoot set to feature and Hutton believes the 24-year-old one-cap international can do a job.

Disappointment

"It's a massive disappointment to me that I'm going to miss another World Cup qualifier but Kirk can go in for Scotland against Norway at Hampden and do the job," he told the Scottish Daily Mail.

"It's a vital game for the country but I have no doubts about Kirk's ability or mentality. I leapt off my chair when he scored in Iceland.

"Kirk is a strong character and that's a massive plus point for a footballer. At a club like Rangers, there are always going to be people who take flak from sections of the support.

"He's handled everything that's been thrown at him so far really well and is still improving as a player."
