Castleford have taken Adam Fletcher on trial with a view to signing the Australian winger for a second time.

The 24-year-old will spend the next two months with the Tigers in a bid to prove he is worth a full-time contract.

Fletcher scored eight tries in 13 appearances for the club during their last campaign in Super League two years ago which ended in relegation.

He did not play any rugby in 2007 and would not count against the overseas quota due to the fact he has Greek ancestry.

Opportunity

"I have been looking to add to our back line and Adam did well for us in 2006 and there was talk of him returning for 2007," Castleford coach Terry Matterson said.

"But he opted against it and I believe that he has been out of the game since then.

"We want to give him a opportunity to prove himself and if he can meet the standards of Super League then we'll look to give him the opportunity."

Rovers friendly

Matterson's side will continue their preparations for the new campaign on Sunday when they face Hull KR.

The Tigers will be without co-captain Awen Guttenbeil and centre Kirk Dixon for the match at Craven Park.

Rovers - who face reigning champions Leeds in the opening match of Super League XIII next Saturday - will have overseas recruits Ben Galea, Daniel Fitzhenry and Jake Webster in action.

The match is a testimonial for Robins' Stanley Gene to reward the Papua New Guinea international for his 10 years of service to the game.
