Harlequins full-back Mark McLinden will be out of action for at least three months after undergoing two operations this week.

The-28-year-old Australian, who has not played since Super League round seven due to an Achilles Tendon injury, underwent surgery earlier this week for an unrelated illness affecting his abdomen.

McLinden was discharged from hospital then re-admitted days later to undergo further surgery due to infection.

Harlequins Rugby League Head Coach Brian McDermott has said: "This is a big blow for Marty (Mark). He's one of our main strike players and we are really missing out not having him with us.

"We all feel for him because it's frustrating when you are out and it's concerning when it is for something serious like this. All our thoughts are with him."

It is hoped Mclinden will be discharged from hospital within the next week.
