Aizue: Remaining a Robin for the 2009 campaign
I feel at home at this club. I am so grateful to the RFL for giving me special dispensation
Hull KR's Makali Aizue
Quotes of the week
Hull KR have handed a new contract to Makali Aizue but have released Jon Steel, Kirk Netherton and Luke Menzies.
Papua New Guinea international Aizue has agreed a deal to remain a Robin for the 2009 Super League season.
Already the club's longest serving player, the 30-year-old prop will now spend a seventh season at Craven Park after the Rugby Football League relaxed the rules on overseas players.
"I feel at home at this club. I am so grateful to the RFL for giving me special dispensation," he said.
Rovers coach Justin Morgan added: "Makka is a genuine player that plays with immense passion and desire."
It is expected that Aizue's countryman Stanley Gene will also be retained by Rovers after the relaxation of the federation-trained player regulations.
Despite the decision to release Steel, who is in the Scotland squad for the World Cup, Morgan insisted the winger would not be short of offers.
"It's always difficult to part with players that have served you well over the years but sometimes you need to evolve and move on," he said.
"Jon will be a great player for whoever he signs for and I don't think he'll have a problem finding a new club."
