French defender Lucien Aubey has joined Portsmouth until the end if the season, while Djimi Traore has joined Rennes on loan.
The Congo born Aubey has arrived at Fratton Park on a loan deal from French side Lens after making 12 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season.
The attacking full-back becomes Harry Redknapp's third signing during the transfer window and the deal includes the option to make the move permanent should the player impress over the coming months.
"He's big, strong and quick. I watched him several times," Redknapp told Portsmouth's official website.
"He can play left-back, down the left side and centre-half. I thought he would be an interesting loan."
Aubey's arrival has signalled the departure of Traore from the club. The full-back only joined Pompey from Charlton in January 2007, but after making just five first-team appearances this season he has decided to move on.
The former Liverpool defender has joined Rennes on an initial loan deal until the end of the season but the French side will have the option of signing the player permanently during the summer should he settle at the club.
