Wolves have signed defender Richard Stearman on a four-year contract from Leicester.

The England Under 21 squad member was a regular for the Foxes last season as they suffered relegation to League One on the final day of the campaign.

Mick McCarthy has moved to secure the services of the Wolverhampton-born player as he looks to bolster his squad for a Championship promotion push.

Leicester chief executive Lee Hoos told the club's official website: "Richard is an emerging talent who we were keen to hold on to and help us in our quest for promotion from League One."

With only a year remaining on his contract, Leicester decided to sell Stearman rather than risk having a fee fixed by a tribunal.
