Skysports.com understands Tom Lees is set to sign a new contract at Leeds United before extending his loan at Bury.

Lees has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Whites, but he is highly regarded by the Championship club and is to be rewarded with a new two-and-a-half-year deal.

He spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley and is again catching the eye in League Two with Bury this term.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Gigg Lane until January and has made 23 appearances in all competitions during his time with the Shakers.

The defender is now expected to see out the remainder of the campaign with Alan Knill's side after securing his long-term future at Elland Road.
