Chelsea Press Conference Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari

Luiz Felipe Scolari has completed his first press conference as Chelsea manager in the glare of the world's media.

The Brazilian conducted the presser in excellent English and gave a confident and on occasion amusing snapshot of his personality.

Perhaps the key issue to come out of the conference was inevitably the future of Frank Lampard, with Scolari claiming he had spoken to the player and that he had committed his future to Stamford Bridge.

Scolari went on to reveal his admiration for another star in the transfer spotlight, Didier Drogba, before confirming John Terry would be his captain.

I am a real die hard chelsea fan, i think scolaris a agreat appointment for Chelsea , he has the track record and is fantastic tactically. someone named a chelsea team, which i think is completely wrong. it should be cech, a.cole,terry,carvalho,bosingwa, midfield three should be essien in the middle because he is the best player in chelsea and is a powerhouse. the other two should be deco and ballack , front three on ,the right ribery so that he can put in some good crosses upfront Drogba/Ibrahimovich because even if you hate drogba he is still a huge problem to any defender against him because he is so strong and agile and skillful, he is also a great finisher. Even terry and nesta would have problems. The same goes for ibrahimovich except most people like him. he is tall strong and extremely skilful aswell. And finishing is not a problem as we all saw his goal against greece in euro 2008. the forward on the left would be eiher robinho or kaka, both would be great

I think this is a great appointment for Chelsea FC. Scolari's record speaks for himself and he has managed to sign Deco which I believe to be one of the best central midfield players in the world right now. However I cannot see Chelsea winning the UEFA Champions League in the near future(not yet anyway) and I think Chelsea now may have to many central midfield players even though competition is good you have Makelele, Mikel, Ballack, Essien, Lampard.

I have to say that Luis Fellipe Scolari's first press conference as chelsea boss was brilliant and i thought that his english was fantastic. He seemed very relaxed and turned out to be a great character and by his actons i expect him to prove a powerful shield for united's attempts to regain their double. I was pleased that he did not advise cristiano ronaldo to join real madrid while being at euro 2008 with portugal and i hope that he wants him to remain a great advertisment for the premier league. I am looking forward to seeing how the pressue could get to the former world cup winning coach but i will be more looking forward to seeing the battle scolari vs ferguson on september 20th!

I think Scolari's first TV interview was great. His English was fine and what he said gave a good reflection of the man I believe he is. His biggest task now lies in choosing a midfield that can play as part of the team. I think the keeper and back four more or less pick themselves, (Cech, A. Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Bosingwa), and I think one of the systems he may adapt could be to have four in midfield, with essien and deco in front of the back four, ballack and lamps (who i wanna see at the bridge come 16th Aug), and then play either Kalou or J Cole off Drogba... now that would be a force to reckon with... COMON YOU BLUES!!!!

Like Petr Cech stated earlier in the week Scolari's presence will be similar to that of Mourinho, you never know we may even get some decent press comments. Especially as he held an impressive, commanding press conference in English, politely and with respect even apologising for his poor standard of English. I personally cannot wait for the season to start, as i belive Scolari will have the boys up and running ready for a fast start to the new campaign.............

I know what your gonna think - "listen to this united fan - no suprises here" well, in my personal opinion, it is an ok move for Chelsea to get Scolari in, fair enough he has a good track record, the only problem is... how old is he? he is 59 - i'm well aware managers can go on for a very long time, would he really stay if Chelsea didn't win anything next season? (or would Abramovich keep him on?) The biggest mistake Chealsea/Abramovich made was getting rid of Jose Mourinho, if i was a Chelsea fan i would have been absolutley furious with them for sacking him. When Fergie leaves United - I would love to see Mourinho take over... I think Abramovich blew it. Also, does anyone really believe Scolari, when he says about Lampard, Drogba and even Ronaldo?! I seriously cannot see Lampard wanting to stay at Chelsea while Mourinho is at Inter, I also feel that it would be a bad move for him, he is a very good player and i think he may struggle with the style of Italian football. Drogba is going, i feel the Champions League Final really proved how pathetic he really is as a person (Don't get me wrong, he is an incredible footballer) but not one Chelsea fan could sit here and say, "I love Dider Drogba, he's amazing" HE cost Chelsea the champions league final - No one else, if he didn't get sent off, he would have been one of the 5 players taking the penalty kick. Ronaldo - How can Scolari say he never convinced him to go, we heard, "Scolari has been telling me to take the train, beacuse it only comes by once in a while, and to take advantage of that" - I am not going to rabbit on anymore - all i can say is, not long until the new season, we'll be seeing you boys at the Bridge on the 20th September.

I feel a great deal of excitement for this coming season and indeed the future of chelsea. Scolari seems to have won over everyone, and there is an air of excitement as there was when Mourinho joined the club, come on the blues.

If Frank Lampard has spoken to Big Phil and said he wants to stay at Chelsea brilliant, on the issue of what Franks agent has come out with is just exactly what was said that Franks new contract has not been resolved yet not his whereabouts next season as he's under contract still at Chelsea who this morning said on the website they will not enter negotiations for the sale of Frank Lampard

Big Phil has made his mark on English Football i thaught that was a great interview but the only thing i thaught was not correct was keeping Frank Lampard. I hope Frank leaves the club as he is no longer the player that everyone thinks he is. People think i am crazy when i tell them this but im a true Chelsea supporter and Lampard is past his best but im Happy Didier Drogba wants to stay top top striker

Scolari!! Good manager with good potential. I think he can acheive something at Chelsea and take them to the next level with their football and trophies looking at this record. He has a good knowledge of the game and his tactics are second to none. Hopefully Lampard and Drogba will stay and some additions will be excellent COME ON BLUES!!!!!!!!!!

Like every other person in football his answers were as cliche as the questions. He gave a good account of himself and seems to have the media on his side, but should Chelsea fail to fire early in the season I'm sure those same hacks will make it their job to try and ruin him. Scolari has landed with a bang. As a coach he's been noted for springing surprises. He certainly sprung one today. Did anyone actually expect him to speak English? From the introduction and talk of translation I don't think even Chelsea expected it. First impressions are quite impressive. He talks a good game. Certainly has a presance about him and can hold the attention of a room very well. I think a big personality has arrived at Chelsea. Something tells me his press conferences throughout the season could be quite humourous.

Scolari is a good choice, an experienced manager that has always reached good results. But the main thing here is to create a new Chelsea team that can play offensive football and win trophies again. Personally I would prefer the ticky-tac of Spain as guideline.
