Manchester United youngster Ezekiel Fryers has set his sights on claiming a first-team place following his victorious full debut against Leeds United in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old was one of an eleven-man reshuffle to Sir Alex Ferguson's side, proving impressive in the third-round tie before cramp ended his evening after 80 minutes.
The defender's accomplished performance was matched by fellow debutants Larnell Cole and exciting prospect Paul Pogba, as United romped to a 3-0 win.
In an interview with MUTV Fryers said: "It was really good to come up to the first team, it was a massive experience and it was great to play against Leeds at Elland Road.
"It was a massive night for me. It was quality and a massive step up, so I was happy to get 80 minutes in.
"I had to come off with a bit of cramp so now it's all about working hard with the Reserves and getting fitter so that I'm ready for whenever these changes might come again."
"It was good to have Larnell and Pogba alongside me when they came on.
"We have been playing together for a long time, so this was massive for all of us."
Fryers may struggle to break into a youthful United defence who have proven remarkably solid without veterans Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand for much of this season, conceding just four league goals this term.
