Lampard: Heading to Inter?
Massimo Moratti has admitted that signing Frank Lampard is Internazionale's 'number one objective'.
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho took charge at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza at the start of the month and immediately hinted that he would be raiding Stamford Bridge.
Inter president Moratti claimed earlier this month that Mourinho had yet to decide which players he wanted to bring in, but he has now made his intentions clear over the England international.
"Lampard? We like him, and he's our number one objective," Moratti told Corriere dello Sport.
"Mourinho likes Lampard a lot. We all know that he's a great player."
Moratti also hinted that negotiations with the Blues may have already started, adding: "Has there been contact with Chelsea? I think there has but I don't know yet."
Lampard has been linked with a move abroad for some time and incoming Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari may decide to assemble a new-look squad.
Portuguese midfielder Deco has revealed that he could be set to join Scolari in London, and his arrival could pave the way for Lampard to leave.
Similarly, reports in the Italian press indicate that Serbian schemer Dejan Stankovic does not figure in Mourinho's plans.
If Stankovic is allowed to leave, Mourinho will be keen to move quickly for a replacement and it has now been confirmed that Lampard is his top target for the summer.
