Sky Sports sources understand Peter Crouch is travelling to Stoke for talks regarding a potential move from Tottenham.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted the striker could leave before Wednesday's 11pm deadline and Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers have also been linked with a £10million deal.
But Stoke appear to be in pole position for the former Portsmouth and Liverpool man, with it understood Tony Pulis' club had agreed a fee with Tottenham earlier in August transfer window.
Crouch, who has been at Spurs' Chigwell training ground, is now heading for the talks with Stoke regarding personal terms and Pulis will hope to convince of his club's ambitions for the future.
The 30-year-old has previously snubbed Sunderland, because his partner and now wife, Abbey Clancy, did not want to live in the North East.
Stoke's proximity to London could be beneficial and may convince Crouch to follow Tottenham team-mate Wilson Palacios to the Britannia Stadium, with the midfielder's move just in need of a rubber-stamp.
Crouch has fallen out of contention in Redknapp's plans and was also excluded from the England squad for the Euro 2012 qualifying double-header against Bulgaria and Wales.
With Europa League fixtures to contend with, Pulis is desperate to increase his attacking options and has also been linked with Craig Bellamy, while a deal is thought to have been agreed for Cameron Jerome.
