Oldham Athletic have suffered a blow in the goalkeeping department after youngster Chris Grange suffered a broken leg.
Grange suffered the injury in a training ground accident on Friday, when his left leg broke just above the ankle after he tried to push off to make a save.
X-rays have confirmed that the custodian suffered a spiral fracture and that an operation will be needed to repair the damage.
The break means that Grange is likely to miss the rest of the season with The Latics and could force the Boundary Park club to bring in some goalkeeping cover for number one Les Pogliacomi.
Meanwhile, midfielder Matty Appleby will have an operation on a long-standing hip problem on Wednesday.
The surgery is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season, with Appleby having failed to make an appearance for the Second Division club so far this term.
