Skysports.com's new feature - Free Agent - continues with an exclusive skysports.com interview with Andy White, who is out of contract at Crewe in the summer.
Despite netting a credible four goals in just 11 starts at Championship level, Andy White finds himself amongst hundreds of footballers looking for employment this summer.
The 23-year-old former Mansfield favourite admits that being informed he was surplus to requirements at Gresty Road was the low point of his career - with an uncertain summer ahead.
Crewe boss Dario Gradi has stated that he expects White to be fixed up in the not too distant future but it was nevertheless with disappointment that White reacted to being released.
''To be honest I was gutted - really gutted,'' White told skysports.com.
''I've really enjoyed my time with Crewe. Learning from the coaching of Dario Gradi and his assistant Neil Baker.
''It's a good club and I'll miss the crack with the lads.
''If you'd asked me a couple of months back then I would have said that I'd definitely get a deal.
''But towards the end of the season I was being brought off with 70 minutes to go and it didn't look too good.
''Then, on the second to last game of the season against Ipswich, I was left out of the squad and the writing was on the wall.''
With a host of players in the same boat, securing a deal can be difficult but White's age and the promise he has shown has already ensured that interest has been mooted.
Talks are expected with Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers in the next few weeks but White is keen to keep his options open for the moment.
''There's been some interest,'' continued White. ''Bristol (Rovers) and Orient have been in contact.
''I think I'll definitely be playing next season - confident something will be sorted.
''There will be talks with Bristol in the next week or so.
''But for the moment I'm keeping my options open and will look at anything that comes in.''
With The PFA to release their list of those players out of contract in June, White is aware of the realities of being a footballer out of work and looking for a new club for the start of a new campaign.
''At the end of the day when The PFA releases its list I'm just another name on it,'' he concluded.
''You just have to hope a manager recognises your name and is looking to bring you in.
''All players want to get their futures sorted as soon as possible before the new season.
''Like any footballer I want to play at the highest level possible.
''But I'm looking to talk to any clubs, League One or Two, that are interested.
''It's just about finding the right club.''
