LINCOLN CITY midfielder Adam Buckley has been arrested on a charge of stealing by Humberside Police on Monday.

The son of former Lincoln City, Grimsby Town and West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Buckley, Adam's incarceration will cast a shadow on The Red Imps' play-off campaign.

Lincoln go to Scunthorpe United's Glanford Park on Wednesday with a 5-3 first leg lead, hoping to secure their place in the Division Three play-off final in Cardiff on May 24.

The club have yet to make a statement on the matter of Buckley's arrest, though Sergeant Euan Gell of Lincolnshire Police confirmed to planetfootball.com that a man was taken into custody regarding a theft at the club.

"A 23-year-old man was arrested in the Grimsby area by Humberside Police on the suspicion of theft at Lincoln City Football Club," said Gell.

"He was questioned and bailed pending further enquiries by Lincolnshire Police."
