Torquay manager Ian Atkins has stepped up his chase for a new goalkeeper by handing a trial to Shaun Marshall.
The Gulls are currently without a recognised goalkeeper after Andy Marriott and James Bittner both left the club and Atkins has been searching long and hard for a new number one.
He has already cast his eye over former Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Ryan Clarke but has now handed Marshall the chance to earn a permanent contract at Plainmoor.
The former Notts County goalkeeper has attracted the interest of a number of League Two clubs but Torquay have stolen a march on their rivals by bringing the 27-year-old in for a trial.
Marshall was released by County at the end of last season after making just two appearances following his move to the club in 2005.
Another player to join the South Devon club on trial is former Dundee United and Plymouth Argyle striker Blair Sturrock.
