Ronaldo: In FifPro team
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of five Premier League players in the FifPro Team of the Year.
FifPro is the world-wide umbrella organisation for PFAs and Ronaldo's presence in a team voted for by thousands of players, spanning more than 40 associations, was virtually guaranteed.
Ronaldo is in line to win a series of major individual awards following his astounding 42-goal contribution to Manchester United's double-winning campaign.
Ronaldo is only joined by one more United player, Rio Ferdinand, who is named in defence alongside England colleague John Terry - who is included for the fourth consecutive year.
Like United, Liverpool provide two members of the FifPro team, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.
The Spanish presence is further made up with Barcelona's Carles Puyol and Xavi joined by Real Madrid duo Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.
South American pair Lionel Messi and Kaka also make the cut.

Only Liverpool supporters would reccomend Carragher replace Ferdinand or Terry. The thought is absolutely ludicrous, Vidic yes but Carragher absolutely not, might i remind everyone this is a team picked based upon last seasons performance and for me any Liverpool player except for Torres does not deserve to be in the team because they didn't win anything just like Arsenal. Casillas, Ramos and Xavi all deserve to be in the team because of their achievements for club and country. Puyol should have been out of contention as could not compete for the centre back position, so maybe throw in Evra or Clichy but Evra actually won something. Messi is a talented player and desrves to be in the team, Kaka is just making up the numbers for Serie A, he did nothing and won nothing last season. Half of the team comprises of the best talent and champions from last season.

Ronaldo, this guy deserved the award, every minute he touches the ball everybody waits to see what he will do next. He is a fantastic player even the whole world knows it.

All you people who are doubting Xavi obviously either don't watch his games or know nothing about football, the man is absolutely outstanding, end of. Iniesta should of been in there instead of Gerrard. Oh, and Carragher better than Ferdinand, get out, idiots the lot of you

Evra should be there, as should Fabregas, they havent even looked at arsenal, the amount of good players from that team is phenomenal. Evra should replace Puyol, and Fabregas in there instead of Xavi. Kaka is a good player, but he didnt have a good season, so he shouldnt be in there either: the fact that evra was missed out though is shocking, he is easily the best left back in europe, although clichy does play very well...

C'mon Liverpool fans: granted, Carragher is a class act, but Terry and Ferdinand were ever better last season. Both made it to the Champions League final and both are England's first choice centre backs...on merit. If as presumed this list is based on the players performances over club and country football competitions, then Carragher cannot be included as he retired from international football as he couldn't dislodge two other great centre backs in the England team: Terry and Ferdinand. I rest my case

How can people say that the Spansih players don't deserve to be in there? They won the Euros for christs sake. Kaka is world class, but doesn't deserve to be in there as he hardly played last year due to injury. So the FifPro XI should go on form of the recent year. Gerrard doesn't deserve to be in there, his england form is terrible. He only likes being the best in his team and when someone tops him, he doesn't perform. Ronaldo is not the best player in the world. He never will be. He doesn't do anything against the good teams, in England and in Europe. He didn't do anything in the Euro's. How can they say he is the best if he doesn't perform against the best of the rest? Ronaldinho for instance, when he won it he deserved it, playing at the same standard against Real Madrid as he did against Sevilla, etc. Carragher has never been world class, Thierry Henry would make him look like a little girl, so why are thick Liverpudlians sugguesting he's better than the defenders in the XI. The only thing i disagree on is the formation picked by the panel. There is no naturaly left back in the team, so who would play there? anyway, not that my opinion matters. haha.

Too many people here are biased towards their own team's players by saying their star player should be ahead of others. I admit Artur Boruc played amazing last year, but i can say Casillas deserved it, as much as i detest Real Madrid. As for Kenny Kenny saying it is voted for by politicians and businessmen..."FifPro is the world-wide umbrella organisation for PFAs and Ronaldo's presence in a team voted for by THOUSANDS OF PLAYERS, spanning more than 40 associations, was virtually guaranteed". Read the damn article. FifPro involves 50,000 players voting...get your facts right. Xavi had a great season last year, for Barca and Spain, Fabregas had half a good season and was a good substitute for Spain. Learn to live with decisions made by people more knowledgeable than you! I agree with the main problem of left-back in this team. Puyol is not a left back, but no doubt is one of the best centre-halfs/right-backs in the world, so maybe he had to be included. As for 'El Wahl', Ramos (la liga winner) Xavi and Puyol won the European Championships.fool.that is what they achieved.

Ferdinand??? The most over - rated player i think the world has ever seen. He only makes it into fantasy teams for the fact that he playes for Man Utd and no one wants to upset Fergie. Gerrard doesnt play well for England because he isnt given the freedom to rome, if i allowed then im sure he would tear contries apart. But once again as a England manager doesnt want to upset the managers of the supposed 'best two teams' in England they are choosen over him. No wonder Carra quit!!!

Evra should definitely be in there instead of Puyol and Lampard instead of Xavi. To Sam McDonnell (below): Surely you can not actually believe that Carragher is a better defender than Ferdinand or Terry. Those two are the best two defenders in the world. Carragher is barely even in the top five in the Premiership and he turned his back on his country to boot!

I think the fifpro in reality would consist of players from the premier league Xavi, Casillas, Puyol, Kaka, are just making up the numbers for their leagues

Only a chelsea fan will say Lampard is better than Xavi because he doesn't watch La liga. lampard is good player but xavi is class. in my opinion, Xavi shouldn't make the list same for puyol. in the first place who made this list? what the hell is Fifpro? these people that don't know nothing about football. they are all politicians and businessmen. they can never give a honest opinion. why is fabregas, Evra and clichy not in the list? clichy in my view was the best left back in europe last season. tell me any playmaker that was more influencial than fabregas last season? Evra as well was the second best left back in europe yet we are given a list for us to accept. i will never recongnise this list and would never recongnise further ones to come unless they get it right

Gerrard - Gerrard, no doubt plays well for liverpool but without a red shirt on, he contributes poorly to England and lacks effort. Surely to make the FIFA cut, you must represent your country well!

Well its a fantastic squad you have got in there except that i will rather have Evra at left back instead of Puyol. Agreed, Puyol is good at set pieces . But so is Gerrard and Ronaldo. Evra has mastered the art of overlapping so much that you can almost swear there are two of him on the field. He cuts across as a third striker from the rear, which makes the pressure on oppositions too hot to handle.

James Lee (Liverpool fan) says...
Like all these teams, they are never picked properly. Unless they are planning on using 4 centre backs? I can see Sergio getting in as a right back but if Puyol wasn't one of the top two centre backs, there is no need to have his name there. A front three consisting of Torres, Messi and that other lad though would be fantastic. Xavi behind Stevie and Kaka would also be alright in midfield I would think.

What the heck is Rio Ferdenand doing in there, he's rubbish. when he plays for Man Utd Vidic makes him look good and when he plays for England Terry does the same. there are well better defenders out there that could have made the team. im not impressed at all.
