Netherlands have replaced Spain as number one in the Fifa world rankings, while England are up to fourth.

Having held the position for more than a year, a friendly loss to Italy means the world and European champions have been replaced by Bert van Marwijk's side, who become just the seventh team to head the rankings.

England may have drawn their last competitive match against Switzerland but are up to fourth in the rankings.

Fabio Capello's Three Lions - who next take on Bulgaria live on Sky Sports HD1 on 2nd September from 6.30pm - are up two places despite not playing since June as their friendly against the Netherlands was cancelled because of the riots in London.

Germany remain in third while Uruguay's Copa America win sees them rise to fifth - the highest ranked South American side, with Brazil dropping to sixth.

The make-up of the top 10 remains the same, with Italy, Portugal, Argentina and Croatia the other sides.

The Republic of Ireland have risen two places to 31st in the rankings, while Scotland are in 55th, Northern Ireland lie in 59th and Wales are down five places to 117th.
