Grant Holt feels Norwich can take heart from their showing at Chelsea, while he is happy to be back among the goals.

The Canaries slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but will leave West London with their heads held high.

There was a fear that they could crumble after Jose Bosingwa fired Chelsea into an early lead, but they responded to that setback in style.

Holt levelled just after the hour mark and it was only after John Ruddy had been dismissed that the Blues edged clear with two late goals.

"I think we will look at the positives," Holt told Sky Sports.

"The way we moved the ball, the way we worked them and got decent chances, they are positives.

"We are disappointed, obviously, that we didn't get anything out of the game but I'm sure that if we can keep churning out the performances we will be fine."

Asked for his take on Norwich's response to Bosingwa's spectacular opener, Holt added: "It was a fantastic strike and we should have learnt our lesson from the fact that a couple of minutes before they put one just wide.

"But it was a fantastic strike and in this league you can't do anything about that.

"We were a little bit edgy after that and I think it took us 10 minutes after that to find our feet, but after that I thought we were fantastic all afternoon."

Holt is also pleased to be up and running for the new season, with Norwich relying on him to get the goals that will see them safe.

"It's good to get off the mark, you don't want people to keep talking about he hasn't scored and he hasn't done this," added the Canaries' skipper.

"If we had got the points it would have been a lot sweeter today and we are a little bit disappointed we didn't get anything. But to get off the mark and get that under my belt is a fantastic achievement."
