A late Brett Holman goal sent AZ Alkmaar to the top of the Eredivisie in a dramatic 2-1 win against 10-man Feyenoord, while Groningen scored two stoppage-time goals to secure a dramatic win and Waalwijk won at home.

Otman Bakkal opened the scoring for Feyenoord nine minutes before the interval after excellent work from Ruben Schaken, but AZ Alkmaar equalised on the hour mark when Rasmus Elm curled a superb free-kick over the wall and into the back of the net.

And things went from bad to worse for Ronald Koeman's side midway through the second half when Kelvin Leerdam was given his marching orders.

The visitors' Schaken then missed a presentable opportunity to restore the lead before Australian Holman settled the match at the AFAS Stadion.

In the day's other games, Groningen produced a sensational comeback victory thanks to two stoppage-time goals to seal a 3-2 away win at De Graafschap after a breathless second half at De Vijverberg.

After a goalless first period, Groningen took the lead in the 65th minute through David Texeira, but goals from Yuri Rose and Vito Wormgoor meant they were trailing with seven minutes to play.

However, Texeira levelled, though, a minute into stoppage time and there was still time for Dusan Tadic to seal the win, Groningen's third in the top flight this season.

RKC Waalwijk secured a comfortable 2-0 home win against NEC Nijmegen thanks to goals from Geoffrey Castillo and Rick ten Voorde at the Mandemakers Stadion.

And in the late game, Vitesse Arnhem secured an away win at bottom of the table Excelsior with Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony bagging a brace for the visitors.
