Pawel Brozek: Trabzonspor striker is a loan target for Rangers manager Ally McCoist

Rangers boss Ally McCoist is hoping to sign Pawel Brozek on loan, but insists a deal for the striker will not hinge on the departure of Nikica Jelavic.

McCoist is aiming to improve his attacking options before Tuesday's deadline and wants to sign Poland international Brozek from Trabzonspor.

Preliminary talks have been held with the Turkish club and McCoist sees Brozek as a strike partner for Jelavic, who is a target for West Ham United.

"We have touched base with his club in terms of seeing if a deal can be put together," said McCoist.

"The lad wants to play as it's in his best interests with the Euros just round the corner.

"I haven't been told it is connected to the Jelavic deal, I'm hoping it is not as I fancy the two of them working together but time will tell."
