Beckham has joined the likes of Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince William in Zurich ahead of Fifa's decision on who will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

A decision will be made on Thursday and Beckham, a former England captain, believes the nation's passion speaks for itself.

The 35-year-old insists England are ready to host the finals and is confident the bid team will be able to convince the decision-makers as well.

Beckham is not getting carried away with England's bid and while he is not overly-confident, he does not think those involved could have worked harder.

"We're a country that's passionate about football. It's in our DNA. It always has been and it always will be," he told Sky Sports News.

"We believe that we are ready to host the World Cup and we have to make people believe that.

"We'll be meeting with the delegates and members and we'll be enjoying this moment.

"We've put ourselves in a really strong position, in a really good position. Not in a position where we think we're definitely going to win it, because we can't be arrogant about it.

"What we've done. What we've done behind the scenes. With the Prime Minister here it shows the strength in our country. It shows we want this.

"It sends out the right tone to have someone like the Prime Minister supporting this bid. Supporting what we're doing for the country. It's a hell of a statement.

"We know we're up against some tough opposition and countries that are capable of hosting the World Cup. We need to put our point across and I think we have so far."
