England captain Paul Collingwood could not hide his delight at what was a 'near-perfect' performance in the opening one-dayer against India.

The Three Lions were right on their game in batting, bowling and fielding and outplayed India in all departments during an impressive 104-run victory at the Rose Bowl.

Almost everything went right for England - Alastair Cook and Ian Bell silenced some of their critics by making their maiden ODI centuries, while Andrew Flintoff returned form injury to pick up a wicket.

James Anderson took career-best ODI figures of 4-23, while Stuart Broad also performed well and was unlucky not to get a wicket.

Collingwood knows he has to keep his and his side's feet firmly on the ground though, as there is still a long way to go in the seven-match series.

"It was a near-perfect performance - but let's not get too carried away," Collingwood told Sky Sports.

"Today was fantastic, to have two centuries and then the bowlers coming out and sticking to their task - but we have six games left.

"It's a great start for us but we just want to continue with that kind of rhythm, that momentum and feel what it's like when you get into winning runs - we have to make sure we have another six of them."

India skipper Rahul Dravid admitted that his men had been thoroughly outplayed in every department, and knows they must raise their game.

"I don't think we came to the party at all - we didn't play cricket," he said. "We were out-batted, out-bowled and out-fielded.

"We have to play a lot better if we are to have a say in this series."
