Lille secured a narrow victory in Ligue 1 to stay clear of Paris St Germain, PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente picked up three points in Holland while the Old Firm advanced to the Scottish League Cup final.

La Liga

Emmanuel Adebayor made his debut for Real Madrid but he was unable to make an impact off the bench as Los Merengues fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Osasuna.

Barcelona now lead their rivals by seven points at the top of the Primera Division after thrashing Hercules 3-0 on Saturday, Lionel Messi netting a brace and Pedro also on target.

Elsewhere in Spain, Villarreal beat Espanyol 1-0, Athletic Bilbao earned an away triumph at Atletico Madrid while Deportivo and Sevilla played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Serie A

AC Milan stay four points clear at the top of Serie A following a 2-0 victory at Catania - the goals coming from Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But second-place Napoli remain hot on their heels and they produced a fine display to thrash Sampdoria 4-0 and keep their title hopes alive - Edinson Cavani hitting a hat-trick.

Rock-bottom Bari lost out 2-1 to Cagliari, Juventus went down at home to Udinese and Inter Milan earned a 3-2 win against Palermo.

Bundesliga

As the weeks go by Borussia Dortmund move closer and closer to glory in the Bundesliga and they thrashed Wolfsburg 3-0 away from home.

Dortmund are 11 points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen who beat Hannover 2-0 on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich secured a 3-1 success on the road at Werder Bremen, St Pauli smashed Cologne 3-0 and bottom side Borussia Monchengladbach won 1-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt.

SPL

Hibernian's miserable campaign in Scotland continued as they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Dundee United.

Elsewhere in the SPL, Hearts managed a 1-0 success over St Johnstone while Hamilton and Kilmarnock played out a 1-1 stalemate.

In the League Cup, Celtic made it to the final after a 4-1 win over Aberdeen and they will take on Rangers who beat Motherwell 2-1.

Ligue 1

Ligue 1 leaders Lille had to fight hard against local rivals Lens but substitute Vinicius De Melo scored in the second half as they triumphed 1-0.

They stay four points clear of PSG but Les Parisiens nicked a 2-1 win at lowly Arles-Avignon.

Lyon fell 2-1 to Valenciennes, while Sochaux thrashed Rennes 5-1 and Monaco played out a goalless draw with Marseille.

Eredivisie

All remains the same at the summit of the Eredivisie as the top five all earned wins, PSV beating Willem II 2-1.

Champions FC Twente are only one point behind them, however, as they overcame Feyenoord 2-1 at home thanks to a late goal from Bryan Ruiz.

AZ Alkmaar thrashed VVV Venlo 6-1, FC Groningen beat Heerenveen 4-1 and ADO Den Haag put five past Excelsior.

Best of the rest

In Turkey, champions Bursaspor secured a 2-0 victory over Galatasaray while Fenerbahce won against Trabzonspor by the same scoreline.

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos both triumphed in Greece, as did Standard Liege and Club Brugge in Belgium.
